clcgalogoPrepared for Delegates Meeting

The 2nd team started their season by playing the Senior County Ladies, at Truro GC on 14th May. The Senior County Ladies are all ladies who have previously represented Cornwall. The match consisted of four foursomes matches and resulted in a 2 1/2 / 1 1/2 win for the second team which was a reversal of the score last year! All the matches were played in good spirits and it is a nice fixture to start the season off.

The second team have played two inter-County matches so far this year. The first was against Devon at Yelverton GC in June. The weather for the practice round was awful. It was so bad that nobody else had gone out all day. We braved it for a few holes but the rain was horizontal and the greens were flooded. Despite this the team put on a fantastic performance the next day and the match was won 7 - 2. Next we faced Dorset at Truro GC in July. This time the weather gods were against Dorset and they had terrible weather for their practice round. The Cornwall team were fantastic once again and this time won 9 - 0. This means the team qualified for the SW counties second team final.

At the other end of the SW region Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire have all played each other with Gloucestershire coming out the winner. Therefore Cornwall and Gloucestershire will play each other on 1st October at Tiverton GC to decide the SW region 2nd team champions, Cornwall being the defending champions.
As I write this it is the end of September. Unfortunately I will be away for the final, so Sue will be accompanying the team and will tell you what happened at Tiverton!
The 2nd team this year has been Laura Andrew, Olivia Trewhela and Emily Wilson from Truro, Danielle Price from Perranporth, Cath Hopkins from Launceston, Gemma Marsland and Annie Lobb from Newquay and Penny Cartwright from St. Enodoc.
